Ustadah Dr. Maysoon Shafiq is an award-winning Alimah, a qualified teacher, faith Leader, motivational speaker and author, and the first female Muslim to hold the position of Chaplaincy Team Lead in NHS England. She has been widely recognised for her pioneering work in breaking down cultural and institutional barriers, and for advancing inclusion and diversity within healthcare and wider public life. Alongside her professional role, she is currently completing a PhD at Sheffield Hallam University, with her research focusing on the under-utilisation of palliative care within the Muslim community, addressing a critical gap in culturally responsive healthcare provision.
