Professor Dr. Süleyman Derin
Short Bio
Prof. Süleyman Derin is a distinguished scholar and full professor in the Department of Basic Islamic Sciences (Sufism Division) at Marmara University. Born in 1968 in Kütahya, Turkey, he completed his B.A. and M.A. in Theology at Marmara University and later earned his Ph.D. in Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Leeds, where he focused on Sufi concepts of divine love.
His academic work specializes in Sufism, Islamic spirituality, and the psychological dimensions of faith. Prof. Derin has authored numerous articles and scholarly works exploring Sufi thought, spiritual psychology, and the relationship between classical Islamic spirituality and contemporary perspectives. He is widely recognized for his contributions to the study of Sufi literature, mysticism, and the inner transformative dimensions of Islam.
