Dr. Zeeshan Ahmed
Dr Zeeshan Ahmed is one of the leading Management and Economics educationists in the country. Dr. Zeeshan has more than 30 years of diverse experience in teaching, training, consulting and research in Pakistan and the US. He has held key positions at the top business schools in Pakistan, viz. LUMS, IBA Karachi, KSBL. He is also contributing as an advisor to several multibillion family businesses as well as some of the leading educational institutions in the country. Dr Zeeshan has pursued Islamic scholarship under the tutelage of some of the top contemporary Islamic scholars including Shaykh Taqi Usmani. He is also recognized as a leading academic in Islamic Economics and Finance in the country.
Currently, Dr Zeeshan is the Pro-Chancellor of the recently-chartered Al-Ghazali University and its School of Technology, GU Tech. In his previous job, he served as the Rector and Dean KSBL, an emerging business school set up by the Engro group. Prior to that, Dr. Zeeshan served as the founding Dean Al-Qadir University Project. He has significantly contributed to the institution’s academic growth and sustainability. Earlier, he was heading the undergraduate program at LUMS business school. Initially, he worked as a management consultant with Ferguson Associates, an affiliate firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Dr Zeeshan has pursued Islamic scholarship and Dars-e-Nizami under the tutelage of some of the top contemporary Islamic scholars and institutions including Darul Uloom Karachi. He is currently serving as a member of the Sharia Advisory Committee (SAC) of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) – the elite regulatory body governing Islamic Banking and Finance in the country. Previously, he has also served as the advisor in the Sharia Board of Securities Exchange Commission Pakistan (SECP) – regulatory body governing the Islamic Equity and Capital Markets. He is also serving at a policy level position in the boards of several ideological institutions, both nationally and internationally.
He has been a pioneering academic in the field of Islamic Economics and Finance. He initiated the first ever offerings of Islamic Economics and Finance courses at IBA, LUMS and KSBL. He has also conducted contemporary Finance and Economics courses for the leading Islamic scholars. He has also led and delivered programs in Leadership, Ethics, Team Building, Emotional Intelligence, Finance, and Management Development Program.
He completed his Ph.D. from Mississippi State University, US in the discipline of Finance and MBA in Marketing from IBA Karachi. Professionally, he is a CFA and has also passed all CPA qualification exams.
Dr. Zeeshan also serves as a Member of Senate of Airwar College, Shariah Advisory Committee of State Bank of Pakistan, Board of a Global Muslim Advocacy Thinktank Sinan-Wren (Turkey), The Advisory Council of the Global Association of Islamic Schools (GAIS), Management Committee Reflections School, Board of Directors at Hikmah and Al Eeman Institute, Advisory Board-The Lab School, Trustee at Ihsan Trust and Patron-in-Chief at Naseeha Institute.
