About Dr Bibi Jan

Dr. Bibi Jan Md Ayyub is a dedicated educator, school and family counsellor , with over four decades of experience in empowering individuals and communities through education, mental health advocacy and counselling. She holds Ed.D from University of Durham, M.Ed from National University of Singapore, and Master in Guidance and Counselling MGC from James Cook University. She received certifications in both Islamic and secular disciplines from renowned institutions in different parts of the world.  As a former teacher and school counsellor with Singapore’s Ministry of Education, she has been a passionate advocate for students’ and community’s well-being by sitting in various advisory boards in government and non-government organisations. 

Her contributions extend beyond schools, helping to shape the mental health landscape in the broader community. As an educator and mental health practitioner, she conducted various evidence-based action research to improve practice and create new local knowledge. A past President of the Singapore Malay Teachers’ Union, co-founder of Club HEAL, founder of Network of Community Practitioners (NOCP) and BTC, Dr. Bibi has significantly contributed to advancing education, mental health, and community welfare. Her contribution in the Union work was highly recognised and she was awarded the Comrade of Labour Award in May 2005. 

As a social activist, she has been an active member of various committees in government, non-government and Voluntary Welfare Organisations (VWOs). Her extensive involvement in the community work has led her to be conferred with Pinga Jasa Bakti , MUIS,  (Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura), Pingat Bakti Masyarakat (PBM) in 1987 and Bintang Bakti Masyarakat (Public Star Award) in 2006 and BBM (L) in 2017 by the President of Singapore. She is a mother of six and a grandmother of four.
