Course Overview
The Qur’an is the eternal word of Allah, revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and preserved through precise oral transmission. Central to this preservation is Tajweed—the science of perfecting Qur’anic recitation. This course begins with an understanding of the Qur’an’s significance, the history of its recitation, and the concept of Tajweed, enabling learners to appreciate why accurate pronunciation safeguards the meaning and beauty of Allah’s words.
Students will learn about Makharij (articulation points), Sifaat (letter characteristics), rules of heaviness and lightness (Tafkheem and Tarqeeq), and the distinction between correct recitation and errors (Lahn Jali and Lahn Khafi). Practical exercises will help identify and correct mistakes, refine pronunciation, and improve recitation fluency. The course also introduces the Ten Qira’at, enhancing awareness of the diversity within authentic Qur’anic recitation.
By the end of the course, students will be able to recite the Qur’an with precision, beauty, and confidence, fulfilling their responsibility to preserve its meaning through correct articulation. This foundational Tajweed knowledge will serve as a stepping stone to more advanced study and inspire a lifelong commitment to improving one’s recitation.
