Ramadan One-Surah Memorisation Challenge

A focused Ramadan commitment to memorise one surah of the Qur’an with intention, presence, and live recitation support — so what you gain in Ramadan stays with you beyond it.

About

Ramadan is the month of the Qur’an — a month when hearts turn toward Allah, routines soften, and days slip away faster than we ever expect.

It is a time when many seek a deeper connection with the Qur’an: to recite with more presence, to listen more attentively, and to allow its words to shape their days and nights.

Yet there is a difference between words we read, and words that live within us. Memorising even a small portion of the Qur’an allows its verses to surface naturally — in ṣalāh, in duʿāʾ, and in moments of reflection — becoming a companion rather than a text.

This Ramadan Qur’an Memorisation Challenge is an invitation to take that connection one step further: to carry a portion of the Qur’an within you, not only through recitation, but through memorisation that stays.

This is not about doing many things.
It is about doing one thing with intention, while Ramadan is still here.

Format: Online · Live-supported · Ramadan-only
Daily Commitment: ~15–30 minutes

Live Sessions: Twice a week · 8 live sessions across Ramadan

A Focused Ramadan Commitment

This challenge is designed as a Ramadan-only commitment, aligned with the rhythm, energy, and spiritual focus of this blessed month. It is not a rolling programme and will not continue in the same format once Ramadan ends.

Rather than spreading effort across multiple goals, the challenge offers clarity and focus:

memorise one complete surah during Ramadan, with care, consistency, and correct recitation.

A single surah memorised with sincerity can remain with you long after Ramadan ends — returning in your ṣalāh, your duʿāʾ, and quiet moments of reflection.

The Surah Options

Participants choose one of the following surahs to memorise during the challenge:

  • Surah ar-Raḥmān
  • Surah Yā-Sīn

Each option follows a structured memorisation plan and includes live recitation support, allowing participants to choose the pathway that best suits their capacity and focus for Ramadan.

Surah ar-Raḥmān

A surah of mercy, gratitude, and recognition

Surah ar-Raḥmān is a surah many hearts already know and love. Its rhythm and repetition gently draw the believer into awareness of Allah’s countless favours, inviting reflection rather than haste.

In Ramadan, when fasting makes us conscious of our dependence, this surah nurtures gratitude and humility. Memorising it allows its reminders to surface naturally in prayer, shaping how the believer speaks to Allah and reflects upon His blessings.

This option is well-suited for those seeking a gentle yet deeply meaningful memorisation journey during Ramadan.

Live Recitation Support: 2 sessions per week

Surah Yā-Sīn

A surah of certainty, reflection, and resolve

Surah Yā-Sīn speaks with clarity about truth, accountability, and the reality of the Hereafter. It is often recited in moments of reflection and stillness, carrying a sense of gravity that steadies the heart.

In the quiet nights of Ramadan, this surah brings focus and grounding. Memorising it allows its meanings to accompany the believer beyond recitation — into prayer, reflection, and moments when certainty is needed.

This option suits those ready for a deeper, more weighty memorisation commitment during the month.

Live Recitation Support: 2 sessions per week

How the Challenge Works

The challenge is built around personal daily memorisation, supported by live listening sessions and gentle accountability, all paced appropriately for Ramadan.

Participants memorise independently during the week, according to the assigned portions. Live sessions are then used primarily for listening, correction, and refinement, recognising that each student progresses at a different pace.

Live sessions provide:

  • guided listening and correction
  • support with pronunciation, flow, and pauses
  • encouragement to remain consistent through the month

This structure ensures that memorisation remains personal, flexible, and sustainable — while still benefiting from teacher guidance and communal momentum.

A Moment of Reflection

Ramadan passes quickly, even when days feel full.

When this month comes to an end, what do you want to still be carrying with you from the Qur’an?

Intentions renew every Ramadan — but what you memorise becomes part of you. If not this Ramadan, when will you make the space to begin?

This is a short commitment — but its reward and presence can last far beyond the month.

Ramadan will end. The Qur’an you carry does not have to.
